Founder of InnoSpire Techhnology Kelvin Siu was recently invited by the Hong Kong Education University to be a guest speaker at the “Hold You Together: Special Education Conference 2024", where he shared with the audience how artificial intelligence and smart glasses can be used to drive social innovation. Kelvin pointed out that artificial intelligence and smart glasses, in addition to providing technological assistance to the visually impaired, can also be applied to various fields such as architecture, monitoring, entertainment, and education.
In the field of special education, Kelvin emphasized that the augmented reality (AR) technology of smart glasses can help students with special educational needs (SEN) to enhance their abilities. Through AR smart glasses, SEN students can receive additional support and guidance in their daily lives, such as identifying objects and learning new skills. These technologies can help SEN students gain confidence, improve learning outcomes, and enhance their self-care abilities.
Moreover, AR smart glasses can also be applied to special education training. Teachers can use AR technology to create interactive learning environments, making it easier for SEN students to understand and master new concepts and skills. For example, in maths learning, AR smart glasses can convert abstract mathematical concepts into concrete images, making it easier for SEN students to understand and apply them to practical situations.
Kelvin also mentioned that AR smart glasses can be applied to other fields, such as architecture, where the glasses can automatically detect and analyse whether workers are wearing helmets and protective gear, ensuring industrial safety. With live stream technology, frontline workers and backend supervisors can also communicate to enhance the effectiveness of construction projects. Additionally, smart glasses can be applied to elderly care, where caregivers can use the glasses to remotely monitor the elderly.
In conclusion, Kelvin’s speech can prove that smart glasses and AI can bring unlimited possibilities, like helping SEN students gain confidence, improve learning outcomes, and enhance their self-care abilities. The technologies can also be applied to other fields to create better social values.
